This study evaluated the correlation between risk factors for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), identified using the validated STARS® questionnaire, with vitamin D status in a Belgium population.
Early identification of persons at risk for AMD is linked with better long-term outcome, emphasizing the need for a simple and fast tool to identify those at risk of AMD.
The results of this study confirm the robustness of the STARS® questionnaire for early identification of AMD and also confirm a low vitamin D status in persons at risk of AMD.
