Figure 9

The effect of nanoparticle aggregation (citrate capped silver nanoparticle samples with increasing sizes: 10 nm: AgNP-I (left), 20 nm: AgNP-II (middle) and 50 nm: AgNP-III (right)) on the cytotoxicity toward immortalized human keratinocyte cells (HaCaT) and human prostate cancer (DU145) cells. Increasing aggregation states were created by incubating the particles with 150 mM NaCl for different time periods (0, 1.5, 3, 6, 12, and 24 hours) prior to cell treatments. The statistical significance of the experiments was calculated through unpaired t-tests and are marked with *(p ≤ 0.05), **(p ≤ 0.01), ***(p ≤ 0.001) and ****(p ≤ 0.0001).
