The average number of viable female mite offspring produced per colony in relation to the proportion of infested cells that showed signs of cell recapping. The colonies with lower mite reproductive success tended to have a higher recapping efficacy (glm: χ2 = 9.09, df = 1, p = 0.003). When mite-surviving and mite-susceptible populations were analysed separately, this pattern was only evident in surviving populations (surviving: χ2 = 10.85, df = 1, p = 0.004, susceptible: χ2 = 0.32, df = 1, p = 0.59).
