Fig. 25

A 27 y/o female ingested ratsbane (rodenticide) in a suicide attempt presenting with abdominal pain and hematochezia. ac Segmental circumferential mural thickening (thick arrows) is seen involving the proximal ileum, with adjacent mesenteric fat stranding and mild free fluid. Superimposed focal area of mural hypo-enhancement (thin arrow) (grey pattern) is depicted, suggesting intermediate stage ischemia. There is also transmural mild hyperdensity (dotted arrows) suggesting intramural hemorrhage. Histopathologic results of resected ileal segments revealed mixed transmural necrosis and intramural hemorrhage, presumably due to the warfarin-like effect of ratsbane
