Methods Randomized controlled trial
Participants Patients undergoing laparoscopic gynaecological surgery or laparoscopic cholecystectomy, 18 to 60 years old, ASA I or II
Interventions Aprepitant (40 mg) orally 1 to 2 hours before induction of anaesthesia and 2 mL saline intravenously (IV) within the last 30 minutes of surgery or oral placebo identical to aprepitant 1 to 2 hours before induction of anaesthesia and ondansetron (4 mg) IV within the last 30 minutes of surgery; all patients received dexamethasone (8 mg) IV after induction
