Hypothesis: Novel engagement of Hsp70 with ASyn via a site separate from the canonical substrate-binding site leads to specific and protective action on ASyn. We propose a novel mechanism in which a noncanonical alternative binding site for ASyn on Hsp70 blocks ASyn oligomerization and confers protection against ASyn pathogenicity.
