(B, C) Western blots also confirmed the decreased expression of Pin1 in the human brain tissues of patients with epilepsy (control, n = 6; epilepsy, n = 12; *P < 0.05). Although the total AMPA receptors did not change significantly, phosphorylated GluA1 Ser831 and CaMKII Thr286 both increased in the human neocortex tissues and in Pin1 KO mice (control, n = 6; epilepsy, n = 12; **P < 0.01).
