Fig. 8 — 2MT is sensed by Trpa1 in trigeminal ganglion (TG) neurons and vagal ganglion (VG) neurons. A subpopulation of vGlut2⁺ PBel neurons receive the 2MT signal directly from TG neurons or indirectly via Sp5 neurons. These vGlut2⁺ PBel neurons transmit the 2MT signal to vGlut2⁺ PSTh neurons, which relay the signal to NTS neurons to trigger hypothermia and tail vasodilation.
