Structural model of a collagen triple helix, made from the Protein Data Bank code 1BKV [164], together with the four amino acids that form the sequence, i.e., glycine, alanine, proline and hydroxyproline. The protein was coloured to highlight the three winded chains. For the amino acids, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen were coloured in dark grey, blue, red and white, respectively.
