Both the QCM and SPR spectroscopy exploit the shift of a resonance condition. The peak in the conductance curve is the analog of a dip in the reflectance curve. The resonance frequency is replaced by the coupling angle (that is, the angle of incidence with minimum reflectance). The coupling angle is related to the plasmon’s kx-vector. The shift in the coupling angle is proportional to the adsorbed amount.
