ΔyhcB lacks proper stationary state growth regulation.A, the ΔyhcB and its parental strain BW25113 (WT) were grown in LB at 37 °C for 24 h (overnight [ON]) and then diluted 1:1000 and grown to an absorbance at 650 nm of 0.3 (EXP[onential]) or to an absorbance at 650 nm of 1.2 (STAT[ionary]) and fixed, and the nucleoids were stained with 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI). The length, diameter, and DAPI fluorescence of each culture are indicated with the mean and SD. The number of analyzed WT cells was 434 (EXP), 1225 (STAT), and 2133 (ON), respectively.
