Anti-inflammatory effects of HDL on monocytes/macrophages. HDL block the interaction between stimulated T lymphocytes and monocytes by interacting with “stimulating factor X” on T lymphocytes. This reduces the interaction between stimulated T lymphocytes and monocytes, which in turn reduces monocyte secretion of inflammatory cytokines and ROS. ROS, reactive oxygen species.
