Extinction times of simulated epidemics started with a single infection that reproduced at least once for the two extreme scenarios of social distancing relaxation described in tables 4 and 5. Scenario A represents a small increase in school and workplace contacts, and scenario E represents a larger increase in work contacts, as well as resumption of school contacts and resumption of most leisure contacts. All other parameters vary as described in table 2. Extinction times can be significant, even when there is a high level of physical distancing and only a single starting infection.
