Study design. Healthy volunteers (HV) received a standardized lunch one hour before starting the experiment and had one liter water at hand during the first observation period of 6 hours (T0-T6). Every 20 minutes, HV received an individually calculated amount of whisky-coke cocktail (EtOH) for four hours, reaching blood alcohol concentration of 1‰ after 4 hours (T4). Blood samples were collected before (T0) and 2 (T2), 4 (T4), 6 (T6), 24 (T24) and 48 (T48) hours after starting the alcohol consumption. This is the same study design as published by Sturm et al. (19).
