Toy/Pnt are required during the second larval instar to suppress formation of the second antenna. (A-D) In Toy/Pnt knockdown discs, the second antenna initiates its development during the middle of the third larval instar. As with Toy/NURF double knockdown discs, wg expression is activated within the dorsal head epidermis at 96 h AEL. (E-L) Controlling the expression of the pnt RNAi lines during development indicates that Toy/Pnt are required during the second larval instar stage.
