Adjusted for age (time scale), sex, Townsend index, education, partner status, ethnicity, employment status, diet pattern, alcohol intake, smoking status, television viewing, depression, asthma, hormone replacement therapy (women only), β‐blockers, calcium channel blockers, statins, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus (including cardiovascular disease [CVD] and cancer in model 1 and 2). Follow‐up was commenced 2 years after baseline in model 2–5. BF% indicates body fat percentage; BMI, body mass index; CRF, cardiorespiratory fitness in watts; and FFM, fat‐free mass.
