We used D-galactose (1000 mg/kg body weight, dissolved in H₂O) and lipopolysaccharide (10 mg/kg body weight, dissolved in H₂O) as oxidants; lipoic acid (100 mg/kg body weight, suspended in 1% carboxymethylcellulose) and melatonin (40 mg/kg body weight, suspended in 1% carboxymethylcellulose) as antioxidants.
