Figure 4. — (A) The compression of the ankyrin repeat (AR) region will generate a pushing force and a torque on the linker helix (LH) domain, pointing to the extracellular side. (B) The LH domain further pushes the transient receptor potential (TRP) domain, leading to a tilt (side view), and (C) a clockwise rotation of the TRP domain (looking from the intracellular side). The motion of the TRP domain pulls the S6 helices to slightly tilt and rotate, which dilates the constriction site of the pore.
