Active case surveillance

Early diagnosis and prompt treatment

Chemoprophylaxis of close contacts (household members, HCPs)

Foster disease awareness within the community, including the need to seek medical help and avoid crowded places

Respiratory isolation of patients for 72 hours

Reactive vaccination of close contacts, HCPs, and high-risk groups, or mass vaccination in the affected area, depending on the extent of the outbreak
