Possible underlying interaction of mitochondria and PRRs under SFTSV infection. Mitochondria are ubiquitous cellular organelles, orchestrating multiple biological processes. Under mitochondrion stress status, BAX/BAK axis is activated mediating mitochondrial permeabilization. mtdsDNA and mtdsRNA are then released into the cytoplasm, which triggers the activation of cytosolic PRRs mediated innate immune response.
