Metformin prevents DSS-induced colitis in mice. C57BL/6 mice were divided into five groups and induced acute colitis by giving 3% DSS. The mice were treated with intraperitoneal PBS or metformin (150 mg/kg/day) daily. (A) The body weight changes during the colitis induction process. Significance was tested by Two-way ANOVA. *p < 0.05 ****p < 0.0001, n = 8. (B) The colon length of each group. The Significance was analyzed by student t-test (mean ± SEM, n = 8), **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001. (C) The representative macroscopic image of mice colon.
