(B) Deletion resulting from slippage of the primer strand during replication between Repeats 1 and 2. The expected products are one chromosome with the original sequence and one with a 23 bp deletion. (C) Duplication resulting from replication of Repeats 1 and 2, followed by dissociation of the primer strand from Repeat 2 to Repeat 1, and continued DNA synthesis. The expected products are a chromosome with the original sequence and one with a duplication.
