Table 1.

A summary of cell studies that explicitly demonstrate the recruitment (or lack) of TDP-43 to stress granules identified by one or more of the key SG markers, G3BP, TIA1, TIAR, HuR, eIF3 and FMRP. Only papers that explicitly assessed TDP-43 recruitment to granules are included, even if this was not the main thrust of the paper. Any publications which failed to show clear SG formation using a core SG marker, irrespective of their TDP-43 findings, are not included. With rare exceptions, the majority of findings support the hypothesis that irrespective of stress or cell type, if robust SGs form, TDP-43 is recruited to them.
