(A) Cellular interactions in developing epidermis: a mitotic division compresses its direct neighbours. The compressed cell changes its cadherin‐based adhesion profile, weakens its substrate adhesions and delaminates (Miroshnikova et al, 2018). (B) Desmoglein 1 promotes actin cortex reorganization via Arp2/3 and cortactin, which decreases cortical tension. A softer actin cortex promotes keratinocyte delamination (Nekrasova et al, 2018).
