Localization of molecular mechanotransducer YAP on MeOH-annealed silk films (a) Immunofluorescent staining of HCLE cells cultured on 30%, 40%, 50% and 60% MeOH-annealed silk films. Actin stress fibers labeled with phalloidin can be seen more prominently in cells grown on 50% and 60% films. Nuclear localization of YAP increases when cells are grown on stiffer films. (b) HCLE cells categorized by distribution of YAP. As cell are grown on stiffer silk films, a higher percentage of the cell population can be seen displaying predominantly nuclear YAP localization (data is represented as mean ± 95% CI. *p < 0.05 from three separate samples per condition).
