Dopaminergic receptor cluster number is restored when Dkk1 expression is turned off. (A) Confocal images from the adult striatum reveal no change in dopaminergic afferents labeled with VMAT2 (blue) following induction of Dkk1 (iDkk1 ON) when compared to control mice exposed to doxycycline (Control ON). In contrast, the numbers of D1R (green)- and D2R-labeled puncta (red) decreased in the presence of Dkk1 (iDkk1 ON) but were restored with cessation of Dkk1 expression (iDkk1 OFF).
