Figure 5. Neuroprotective property of α-scoliidine or β-scoliidine on mitochondrial metabolism of the PC12 cell line against H2O2-induced oxidative stress. PC12 cells were seeded at 2 x 104 cells/well in a 96-well plate for 24 h, and treated with α-scoliidine or β-scoliidine (1 µM) for 4 h at 37°C and, after the medium were replaced containing peptide and H2O2 (0.6 mM) and incubated for more 20 h. Mitochondrial metabolism activity was assessed using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) protocol. Values are expressed as mean ± standard deviation from three independent experiments in triplicate and analyzed by one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post-test. *p <0.05 to differences among the control group. #p< 0.05 when compared with the H2O2group. L-Name: L-NΩ-Nitroarginine methyl ester; Bk: Bradykinin.
