The cellular proliferation potential of SBT over time. At the end of each incubation period, absorbance was measured using an automated plate reader at a wavelength of 450 nm. This assay is based on the cleavage of the tetrazolium salt XTT to a soluble formazan salt by mitochondrial dehydrogenases, only being active in metabolically intact cells. As the increase in formazan formed is measured by the absorbance, this directly correlates to the number of viable cells within the sample.
