Flow measurements from Experiment 1 were taken using distance-time data of the movement of dye over the experimental area. Measurements were taken across each replicate tank throughout the experiment (high n = 18, low n = 17). Flow measurements from Experiment 2 were taken using an ADV. Measurements were taken across each replicate tank throughout the experiment (high n = 12, low n = 12).
