Effect of fucoxanthin (Fx) on the H2O2-induced ROS level. Rat heart valve interstitial cells were cultured in DMEM/F12 supplemented with 10% FBS for 24 h, pretreated with 0.01–1 mg/mL of Fx for 24 h, then treated with 0.5 mM of H2O2 for 15 min. ROS were visualized using DCFDA. These were assessed by microscopy at 200× magnification (A) and we used Image J for the density quantification (B). ***, p < 0.05 compared with untreated control group; ###, p < 0.001 compared with H2O2 group.
