Immunocytochemical detection of HMGB1 signals in LPS-stimulated primary cell cultures of the rat area postrema (AP). After eight hours of stimulation with LPS (1 µg/mL), primary cell cultures were fixed and used for immunocytochemistry. HMGB1 signals (red) were detected in nuclei (blue) of MAP2ab-positive neurons (green) (A,B). The number of all HMGB1-positive nuclei was significantly attenuated after treatment with LPS (C). Six wells per group (LPS vs. PBS; 6–12 microphotographs per well) out of three independent experiments were analyzed. Scale bar represents 25 µm (A,B).
