Stability of peptides Acan1 and Nak1 to proteolysis. Stability assays using (A) serum, (B) simulated porcine gastrointestinal fluid, and (C) simulated porcine intestinal fluid of synthetic peptides Acan1 (purple), Nak1 (green), and ShK (red). The percentage of peptide remaining in all three environments was assessed by liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. The hookworm peptides show better stability than ShK. The positive control linear peptide (blue), degraded within the first 30 min. Data show mean ± SEM of a representative experiment, n = 3.
