Schematic of proposed mechanism for the role of HDAC6 in endothelial dysfunction and atherogenesis. OxLDL stimulates HDAC6 activity by enhancing HDAC6 NEDDylation. This leads to suppression of the endothelial enzymes NOS and CSEγ, thereby reducing NO and H2S. These events result in EC dysfunction and atherosclerosis.
