Overview of the atlas estimation setting. Starting from the initialization given by the hypertemplate Fshape $(S_0,f_0)$, the algorithm iteratively evolves the mean template together with the deformation fields $v_i$ and residual textures $h_i$ to generate template transformations approximately matching the respective textured surfaces in the dataset.
