Figure 1. — Hypoxia promoted the migration and proliferation of cartilage stem/progenitor cell

The cartilage stem/progenitor cell cultured in different concentrations of O₂ (20% O₂ or 1% O₂) proliferated with increasing time in culture, while the hypoxic group (1% O₂) show a higher cell proliferation than the normoxic group (P < 0.05). There was an obvious difference in cell migration between the normoxic group and the hypoxic group (P < 0.05) in the scratch wound assays, which indicated that hypoxia may promote cell motility.
