Gq/11-coupled mAChRs evoke [Ca2+]i increases in T cells. Gq/11-coupled M3 and/or M5 mAChR activation results in IP3-mediated Ca2+ release from the endoplasmic reticulum followed by extracellular Ca2+ influx through CRACs, which mediate repetitive [Ca2+]i oscillations in T cells. The increase in [Ca2+]i is required to enhance c-fos gene expression.
