Parameters of liver oxidative stress in mice fed a control diet (CD30) or a Western-style diet (WD30) for 30 weeks. (a) Liver reduced glutathione (GSH) level. (b) Liver malondialdehyde (MDA) level. LEAK, measurements in the absence of ADP; OXPHOS, measurements in the presence of ADP (2.5 mM); NADH-linked substrates (pyruvate, 5 mM; glutamate, 10 mM; malate, 2 mM); S (succinate, 10 mM); capacity (NADH-linked substrates + succinate + octanoylcarnitine, 0.5 mM + glycerophosphate, 10 mM); β-oxidation (octanoylcarnitine + malate). Results are expressed as the means ± SD (n = 6 each group).
