Time course of internal longitudinal resistance, ri, in arterially perfused rabbit papillary muscle after induction of acute myocardial ischemia. In linear cable theory, ri corresponds to the intracellular cytoplasmic resistance and the cell-to-cell coupling resistance. The change of ri corresponds to the uncoupling of cells by closure of gap junction channels.
