Climatic variables were extracted from Worldclim database (Fick and Hijmans, 2017) and the CGIAR Global Aridity and PET Database (Zomer et al., 2007), and abbreviated as follows: MAT, mean annual temperature (°C); MAWM, mean annual temperature of the warmest month (°C); MACM, mean annual temperature of the coldest month (°C); MAP, mean annual precipitation (mm); AI, aridity index (unit less, calculated as PET/MAP, PET: potential evapotranspiration in mm/year) (UNEP, 1997).

33 years-average values were used for climatic variables. High AI values refer to humid conditions and low values refer to arid conditions. WO, wild olive or oleaster (Olea europaea subsp. europaea var. sylvestris); MO, Moroccan olive (Olea europaea subsp. maroccana).
