In the nucleus, HYL1 participates in miRNA processing along with DCL1 and SE. HYL1 protein is localized to polysomes on the ER where it associates with AGO1 and AMP1, and binds to the miRNAs and mRNAs of miRNA-targeted genes to form a miRNA-mediated effector complex.
