Key model predictions related to the structure of the electron transport system. These simulations illustrate the effects of variation in parameters that control electron transport under limiting light intensities: the absorptance to PAR (Case 1), the maximum activity of Cyt b6f (Case 2), the efficiency of coupling between electron transport and ATP production (Case 3), and the chloroplast CO2 (Case 4). Results are plotted for the potential rates of LEF and CEF1 together, the potential rate of CEF1 alone, the potential rate of gross CO2 assimilation, and the potential absorbed quantum yield for CO2 assimilation. Note that the rates are described as ‘potential’ because they all correspond to the Cyt b6f-limited state.
