Design of the metabolomics study. This study, involving 123 plasma samples, included both discovery group and validation group. Through the analysis of the data from the discovery set, we screened and identified metabolites that were closely related to COVID-19. To validate the reliability of results from discovery set, an independent set of 13 plasma samples was collected and all samples were correctly identified by a random forest machine learning model based on the identified metabolites (Supplementary Table 9).
