The saccade target (the plate of green vegetables) is visible in extrafoveal vision prior to fixating that item for further scrutiny and to guide further action such as a grasping movement. The images are blurred except from the central area to imitate in a simplified way the difference in acuity between the fovea and extrafoveal vision.
