Table 2.

Main phase transition temperatures deduced from methylene symmetric stretching in Cer/(d)-FFAs/Chol/CholS membranes containing either sphingosine (Cer NS, Cer (R)-AS, or Cer (S)-AS), or dihydrosphingosine (Cer NdS, Cer (R)-AdS, or Cer (S)-AdS) or phytosphingosine Cers (Cer NP, Cer (R)-AP, or Cer (S)-AP) at ambient room humidity. The numbers in brackets indicate doublet disappearance (deduced from methylene scissoring vibration), which indicates an orthorhombic–hexagonal transition.
