Nanopore sequencing. (A) Single-stranded polynucleotide is electrophoretically driven through a nanopore that provides the only path through which ions or polynucleotides can move from the cis to the trans chamber. Residual current-vs-time signal trace from a nanopore shows clear discrimination between single bases (dGMP, dTMP, dAMP, and dCMP).
