The recombinant adenoviruses expressing FMDV 3D protein induce a specific cellular response in vivo. In (A), ELISPOT analysis of IFNγ producing splenocytes in response to stimulation with recombinant protein FMDV 3D from groups of five C57BL/6 mice inoculated subcutaneously with 10⁹ IFU of the indicated adenoviruses at days 0 and 14 of the experiment and harvested at day 21. Shown are means + SD for each group of 5 mice and significant differences among groups indicated by ** (p < 0.01) or * (p < 0.05), ns: no significant differences. In (B), groups of five C57BL/6 mice vaccinated as above were challenged via intraperitoneal inoculation at day 23 of the experiment with FMDVC-S8c1 and survival recorded.
