FIGURE 3

Dysregulation of the urea cycle and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle might be involved in the pathological progression of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). An overview of metabolites closely related to the urea cycle and TCA cycle. Boxplots show levels of these metabolites in the discovery and validation samples at different stages. Metabolomics pathway analysis in both the discovery cohort and the validation cohort identified the urea cycle and the TCA cycle as the top two pathways affected in patients with COVID-19. ns: nonsignificant. *: p<0.05, **: p<0.01, ***: p<0.001.
