FIGURE 3

The mechanism of TRAIL-induced apoptosis in tumor cells. TRAIL typically elicits apoptosis in target cells following binding to its specific receptors, known as DRs, leading to the activation of the caspase cascade. TRAIL/Apo2L, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related apoptosis-inducing ligand; DR, death receptor; BAX, BCL2-associated X; BAK1, BCL2 antagonist/killer; FADD, Fas-associated via death domain; tBid, truncated BH3 interacting domain death agonist.
