Brushite stones. A: Brushite with radial crystals, which are quite distinctive by micro CT. B: Brushite in a more compact form, which can be easily mistaken for COM by micro CT. Inclusion of a COM standard with the micro CT scan can make identification of brushite easier because brushite tends to have a higher X-ray attenuation than does COM (see Figure 3).
