Table 2.
Magnetic susceptibility difference (Δχ) between the human monocyte subsets and the surrounding fluid (PBS). Whereas all the cell types report negative magnetic susceptibilities (χcell <0), Δχ (χcell − χfluid) is positive for some of the intermediate and non-classical subsets. This implies that these cells will experience positive magnetophoresis when suspended in PBS and in the presence of a magnetic field and a magnetic field gradient. The percentage of cells with susceptibilities higher than that of the fluid is also reported.
